To a very dear friend,
From the moment our paths crossed, I knew this would be a lifelong friendship I would always cherish deeply. It all began when I first visited your pub, The Lorne Arms. Not long after, I was asked if I’d be interested in stepping in to replace my sister as the second head barman after Gary. Initially, it was meant to be a temporary arrangement while you found someone more permanent. However, we clicked so well that I ended up staying almost a year—mainly because of how welcome you and Val made me feel.
I will never forget the kindness you both showed me, especially the time you chose to close the pub earlier than usual so you and Val could attend my 21st birthday. It was such an honor, and it meant the world to me.
The last time I saw you both, I felt blessed but also deeply saddened. My only regret is not seeing you more often in recent years. You were such a lovely man, and I will never forget you. May you rest in peace, my friend. Until we meet again, save a drink for me.
